WHY I HAVE A DEATH MASK
Crafted entirely by hand out of wood
and covered in a limestone plaster by the
artist Atif in Luxor, it took 4 months
of detailed work to create this one of
a kind piece. I was thrilled to collect
it in Egypt in person October 2018
and felt very overwhelmed when I saw
it. The attention to detail and
accuracy is exquisite. From the beaded necklaces, hair, gold leafed cobra, lapis blue eyeliner,
I have never seen a modern
death mask in Egyptian style
before this one. Many people
will think it is strange, but I do
love it...after all life is short and
death is for eternity.
